Postcolonial Tribal Theology: Reading Poverty in Luke 6: 21 is a work that attempts to re-read the theology of poverty in Luke 6: 21 to unmask the imperial overtone within the text owing to the Sitz-in-Leben with which the text was composed. The theology of poverty located in Luke 6: 21 had been interpreted in the Christian faith tradition as a message of Gods vindication of the poor and the judgment of the wicked. Traditional interpretation has negated the imperial connotation that exists within the theology of poverty due to the imperial situation within which the text emerged. In this context, whilst revisiting the Lukan understanding it becomes crucial especially political-economic underpinning that has been ignored to postulate a theology. This has indeed romanticised poverty at the expense of the well-being of the people in the society. Postcolonial Tribal hermeneutics perpetuate an alternative interpretation as an antonym to that of the dominant interpretations to foster an element of liberation and salvation to the voices of the silenced in a colonized setting of North East India.
